The success story that is Michael Hill today, began in 1979 when Michael Hill opened his first store in the New Zealand town of Whangarei, just north of Auckland. Michael’s vision was to open 7 stores in 7 years and to create a unique retail jewellery experience – with dramatically different store designs and a product range devoted exclusively to jewellery, promoted with high impact advertising.

Today, Michael Hill is Australasia’s pre-eminent retail jewellery chain, with over 285 stores throughout New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the USA.

The group employs over 2500 staff in retailing, manufacturing and administration. The secret to our success at Michael Hill is our people.
